What can you serve with a fish or meat dish? Buckwheat, rice, noodles, potatoes… None of these interest me. I was looking for inspiration when a tin of chickpeas caught my eye. I used to prepare a chickpea spread for bread. Necessity is the mother of invention and so I made a quick and tasty vegetable stew. I served it with fried fish and lettuce with vinaigrette.

Did you know that on 12th of April we celebrate Chocolate Day?  Due to the high calorie content in a relatively small volume and thanks to healthy compounds of sugar and fat, chocolate is a very useful source of energy. Research indicates that the ingredients of chocolate positively influence the circulatory system and the brain. Chocolate decreases tiredness and improves concentration and mood. Let’s hold on that, because it has one disadvantage: Eating too much chocolate always means gaining weight.

When I was a child I had a dream: make waffles at home and eat as much as I can. Now I’m an adult and my love of waffles remains. Recently we bought a waffle iron, so I can make my dreams come true whenever I want.

Rolled oats are a staple product in my home so when I found a recipe for an oat cake I was very interested. The combination of chocolate and nuts is one of my favourites. You add a little flour and not much sugar to this cake. This is what’s so good about it.

There are two cooking shows which I like among the few on TV. I value cooking journeys by Robert Makłowicz for the exoticism and conversational style. I also like Karol Okrasa’s cooking show because he visits forsaken corners of Poland and rejuvenates traditional recipes.
Today I propose a dish which comes from one of Karol Okrasa’s Masurian programmes. This dish combines the traditional taste of fish with unusual condiments which apparently do not go well together: sour cabbage, sweet honey, chilli pepper and garlic. There are no peas but the net result is amazing and extremely delicious.
