We can now buy fresh lettuce, coleslaw, olives and tomatoes in every grocery store. Do you remember how it used to be? A few years ago, our mums had to prepare every salad from scratch.
I have some childhood memories of salads that I would like to share with you.
Salad 1
1 carrot
1 apple
1 teaspoon of sugar
Grate the carrot and apple into thick strips ; sweeten the salad with sugar.
Salad 2
1 carrot
1 apple
1 medium-sized leek
cream or yoghurt
2 teaspoons of sugar
Grate the carrot and apple into thick strips and cut the leek into slices. Sweeten the yoghurt or cream with sugar. Add the sauce to the salad and mix it in.
Salad 3
250 grams of sauerkraut
1 carrot
1 apple
1 onion
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of sugar
pepper
Cut up the sauerkraut. Grate the carrot and apple into thick strips and dice the onion. Spice the salad up with sugar and pepper. Add olive oil and mix it in.
Salad 4
2 gherkins
1 medium-sized leek
1 apple
half a tin of peas
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of mustard
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of water
Dice the gherkins and the apple and cut the leek into slices. Add the peas and mix them in. Mix in the olive oil, honey, water and mustard to make a dip and add it to the salad.
Enjoy your meal!
