Everyone has secrets; issues which shouldn't see the light of day. We can have secrets at any age. We confide first in our mothers and then we share our secrets with friends. In adult life we have situations in which our secrets overwhelm us, and sometimes they are not fit to be shared with anybody.

In the book "My husband's secret", by Liane Moriarty, the secret involves families that are seemingly separated forever. When I started reading this book, I felt that it was a collection of different short stories about different families. However, every page revealed the web of connections between them.

There are three husbands in this book, but which of them knows the secret from the title? In every family, life goes on every day down a well-trodden path. Breakfast is served on the table, somebody calls somebody, or somebody wants to talk with somebody. Joy interchanges with tragedy. At the beginning, somewhere in the background, a criminal intrigue appears: the unsolved mystery of the murder of a teenage girl. This drama overshadows the life of one of the characters. She believes that this long forgotten issue will come to its conclusion in the future. Can an accidentally found film help to solve the mystery?

Just like in a play, somebody imperceptibly puts a letter on a small table. It goes unnoticed for half of the act and suddenly somebody opens it and ... everything changes. It turns out that the strange situations fit together like the parts of a puzzle in a broken picture.

Could the revealed secret change family life? Will the consciences of the characters impel them to reveal the mystery? Could self-imposed penance replace a court verdict? What can we do when on one side of the scales we have family, children and a good, caring father, and on the other we have crime, a life cut short and the tragedy of the other parents? Apparently, the choice seems to be obvious...
