Meatloaf, i.e. another way to prepare mincemeat

I think all children like mincemeat. My children like it very much whatever I make from it: Salisbury steak, meatballs, spaghetti Bolognese and Roman roast. This last version you can make without fixings, but you can add hard-boiled egg, cooked carrots or pistachios. It tastes great as a hot dish with gravy or horseradish sauce, new potatoes with dill and green lettuce. It also tastes good served cold with bread and horseradish or mustard.

Ingredients:

1kg of shoulder mincemeat

1 stale Kaiser roll

200ml of milk

1 onion

3 tablespoons of butter

1 garlic clove

5 eggs

salt and pepper

Heat the oven up to 180C. Soak the stale Kaiser roll in milk. Slice the onion and fry it with the 2 tablespoons of butter. Hard boil three eggs and shell them. Put the mincemeat into a big bowl, add the drained roll, two eggs, onion and crushed garlic. Spice it up with the salt and pepper and mix them in. Smooth a 16 × 26 cm baking sheet with fat and sprinkle with breadcrumbs or flour. Put half of the mass onto the baking sheet and then put the three hard-boiled eggs onto the sheet and cover with the rest of the mass. Put some small pieces of butter on the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes.

Enjoy your meal!
