Breton style beans is one of the most popular Polish dishes. Once it was even more popular, but it fell out of favour and came to be associated with the bachelor lifestyle. I think this is wrong because it's very tasty and easy to prepare. You just have to remember to soak the beans earlier.
Ingredients:
0.5 kg white beans
300g sausages
1 onion
stock cube
1 tin of tomatoes (cubed)
2 tablespoons of marjoram
2 tablespoons of oil
1 tablespoon of butter
salt and pepper
Soak the beans in a pot for 10 hours (I leave it overnight). Replenish the water 2 cm above the layer of the beans and boil for 1.5 hours. Slice the onion and sausages (you can use American bacon instead). Fry the onion lightly, add the sausages, marjoram and fry for a while. Fry the tomatoes in the butter with sliced garlic and mix everything together. Add a stock cube, fried onion and the sausages to the beans and stew for 20 minutes. You can pour some water in if it is necessary, but not too much; we are making Breton style beans and not soup. Add the tomatoes and stew for 20 minutes. If necessary, spice it up with salt and pepper. When the dish is too runny you can make roux from butter and flour, or if you want, use ready-made roux. Serve with a baguette or toast made from your favourite bread.
Enjoy your meal!
