Quick orange cake is an ideal proposal when you want your home to smell nice and warm and you don't have enough time for sophisticated shopping and for long preparation. Needless to say, nobody needs to know how easy it is to make this cake. Let it be your secret and take advantage of the saved time as you like.
Sweet-and-sour icing from caster sugar and citrus fruit juice is an excellent addition to the orange cake.
Ingredients:
Cake:
370g of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
a pinch of salt
3 eggs
200g of sugar
125ml of oil
125ml of orange juice
orange peel grated from one orange
Icing:
15 teaspoons of caster sugar
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
3 tablespoons of orange juice
Heat the oven up to 180C.
Smooth a 24-cm cake tin with butter and sprinkle it with breadcrumbs or flour.
Whisk the eggs and sugar to make a smooth paste. Pour in the oil and mix constantly while adding the flour, baking powder and salt, then add the orange juice and orange peel. Pour the dough into the cake tin and bake for 40 minutes.
Mix the caster sugar and citrus fruit juice to make smooth icing. Decorate the cooled cake with the icing.
